Dear SVA Community,

I want you to know that, after 3 years at the helm and 5 collective years in the organization, Mike Dakduk, the Executive Director of SVA, will be stepping down in October of this year. His leadership, commitment to student veterans, and dedication are the trademark characteristics of this generation’s servicemen and women. Not only has Mr. Dakduk developed countless relationships with many of you, but he has empowered SVA to become the premier organization supporting today’s student veterans and for that we are deeply appreciative.

We are also pleased to introduce our new Executive Director, Mr. D. Wayne Robinson, a former Command Sergeant Major of the U.S. Army.

In addition to years of military leadership, Mr. Robinson also brings savvy business acumen to SVA. He previously served as partner and head of new business development at Drexel Hamilton Investment Partners, a Wall-Street investment firm, and earned an MBA from the world-renowned Booth School of Business at the University of Chicago.

Mr. Robinson is extremely passionate about education and looks forward to working with each of you.

As the only nonprofit organization exclusively dedicated veterans in higher education, our role is vital to the long-term success of student veterans. When SVA was established some six years ago, we never imagined the network would one day reach all 50 states and 3 countries. This growth and success is because student veterans nationwide have stepped up to support one another, improve their campuses, and fulfill the promise of the Post 9/11 GI Bill. We could not be more proud of you as student veterans, SVA chapter leaders, and all that we have accomplished together.

We are also fortunate to have an exceptional staff that will ensure no momentum is lost during the transition. The quality of our programs, our extraordinary partnerships, and the collaborative spirit of our chapters will continue to drive our success for decades to come. With several major initiatives in the works for 2014 and beyond, we’re excited to continue working with all of you to empower student veterans to lead the next great wave of American progress! Thank you for your steadfast support.

We are Yesterday’s Warriors, Today’s Scholars, & Tomorrow’s Leaders

Respectfully,

Rodrigo Garcia
